Yangtze River 4 Tour
Day 1 West Coast/Beijing
Depart the West Coast for Beijing.
Day 2 Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, you are met by your local guide and transferred to the Capital Hotel (or similar).
Day 3 Beijing (AB,L,SD)
After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square, then enter the Forbidden City, home of Chinese Emperors for more than 500 years. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven, one of the best examples of Ming Dynasty architecture in Beijing. Attend a welcome banquet featuring Beijing Roast Duck in the evening.
Day 4 Beijing (AB,L,D)
The highlight today is an excursion to the Great Wall at Juyongguan. Enjoy the dramatic vistas and marvel at the Wall as it climbs and descends steep ridges and narrow valleys. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace, where the Empress Dowager Ci Xi would go to escape the heat of the city.
Day 5 Beijing/Chongqing (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, enjoy a pedicab tour of the Hutongs, the “old city” neighborhood of narrow alleyways and courtyard gardens hidden behind Beijing’s modern facade. Visit Prince Gong’s Palace, the Drum Tower, and old-style courtyard houses still inhabited by Beijing residents. Transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Chongqing. Upon arrival transfer to the Hilton Hotel (or similar).
Day 6 Chongqing/Yangtze River (AB,L,D)
Board Victoria Cruises after breakfast and begin cruising down the Yangtze River. This afternoon you’ll enjoy a shore excursion to Fengdu, known as the “Ghost City” due to its collection of otherworldly statues and shrines.
Day 7 Yangtze River (AB,L,D)
Cruise through Qutang Gorge, the shortest, narrowest and most dramatic of the Three Gorges. Enjoy a side trip to the Small Gorges at either Daning River or Shennong Stream. This evening you’ll navigate the Three Gorges 5-step Shiplock.
Day 8 Yangtze River (AB,L,D)
Excursion at Yueyang, where the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake merge. On the lake's eastern shore stands Yueyang Tower, one of China's "Three Great Towers"er is Junshan Island, where the delicate and prized Silver Needle Tea is grown.
Day 9 Yangtze River (AB,L,D)
This afternoon a shore excursion is arranged to Wuhan, where you’ll visit Yellow Crane Tower. Legend has it that a Taoist sage flew away from here on a beautiful yellow crane to become a revered immortal. Also visit Guiyuan Si Buddhist Temple, with buildings dating from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
Day 10 Yangtze River (AB,L,D)
Arrive Guichi and disembark for a full day excursion to Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), known for its knarled and knotted pine trees, its dramatic rock formations and its mistshrouded vistas.
Day 11 Yangtze River (AB,L,D)
Arrive Nanjing this morning and enjoy a city tour including the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple. Return to the ship for your last night onboard.
Day 12 Shanghai (AB,L,SD)
Disembark this morning and drive 1-1/2 hours to Shanghai. Upon arrival check into the Jianguo Hotel (or similar). This afternoon visit The Bund, famous promenade along the Huangpu River, and Nanjing Road, the bustling heart of Shanghai. Tonight’s farewell dinner is arranged at a special restaurant.
Day 13 Shanghai/West Coast (AB)
At leisure until you transfer to the airport for your flight back to the USA.

These two days are free for shopping or further exploration.
Day 15 Shanghai/West Coast (AB).
Note: Availability of single cabins is limited during peak season. Itineraries may be adjusted due to local river conditions. Land only price for Basic Tour with or without Extension begins in Beijing and ends in Shanghai. A $75 airfare surcharge will be added per person each way for departure and/or return on weekends. International air ticket taxes and airport departure taxes are additional.
